The Larada is Abasi’s flagship model. Its focus lies with ergonomics, with its flowing curves and contours designed to rest against the user’s body. This particular model features an Okoume body with a set-in roasted maple neck. The fingerboard is also roasted maple and is equipped with 24 Jescar stainless steel frets and utilises a 16″ – 21.5″ compound radius. The hardware on this guitar is black and consists of the individual string saddles, the volume knob and the Hipshot open-gear locking tuners. The electronics sport a Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasi Pickup set, perfectly suited to the needs of the modern guitarist and capable of chugs, fluid leads, airy cleans and everything in between. This model comes in a Mystic Dream finish, which shifts between purple and green depending on the light angle. It’s one of those finishes that you just have to see in person to appreciate.
The guitar is new, however we have spotted small defects in the following areas: there is an issue in the paintjob near the “binding” – there is about 0,5mm not enough paint on the upper wing; most of the binding has an edge that you can feel with your fingers; there are spots that seem to be discoloration in the wood of the fretboard on the 13th fret.
